I’ll get to the title in a moment…
Saturday was like Christmas in August…apples were at the farmer’s market! I bought from a new-to-me-vendor – he is from Fleming Orchards and drives 90 miles each way for the weekly market.
The crunchy, sweet Zestar apples are a treat and a great snack. Apples are early this year because of the warm Spring but crops are at risk of being very small because of a late frost. Stay tuned for apple season on the blog!
Speaking of the market, you know you’re a regular and support your local farmer when you:
#1: Are on a first-name basis with Gary who is your “guy” for beans, peppers, tomatoes, corn, squash, and strawberries (seasonal variety).
#2: Gary has a display of melons and you ask how to pick the best one and he has set one aside for you and is storing it in his truck until you show up.
The melon is melt-in-your-mouth delicious and sweet. I’ve been enjoying it for breakfast.

Lost Pepper Plant!
I saw these signs posted and had to do a double-take. This was not a posting about a lost cat, dog, fish. Rather, someone’s pepper plant was stolen and they ant it back!
