I have another at-home DVD workout to share with you today.
Total Body Cardio with Tanja Djelevic. This was my Sunday workout – 50 minutes of focus, toning, and sweating at home since it was snowing and messy outside and that was a much better alternative than slopping my way to the gym.
The workout can be done without weights if you are a beginner. If you’re more advanced, pick up your 3 or 5 lb weights and use them to add a little intensity to the cardio and toning segments.
The workout starts with a warm-up and then moves to cardio, toning, abs, cool down. This is also one that challenges your balance. I really liked the push-ups. The workout starts with normal push ups and then moves to push ups where you scoop your abs when you come back up and you hold that scoop. Ouch!
The instructor, Tanja Djelevic is Swedish and works as a trainer/instructor at numerous gyms in Los Angeles and has appeared as an expert on Biggest Loser Sweden. Sometimes it’s hit or miss with fitness DVD instructors and she is definitely a hit.
What was your Sunday workout? What at-home workout equipment do you have on hand?
Sunday was a rest day, so no workout for me. 😉 In college, I had light dumbbells and a kettlebell in my room, but I left them at home when I moved into my apartment; I want to keep them there so I have access to weights when I’m home.
Sadly, I didn’t do a workout on Sunday! I had a totally lazy, bumming around day. But tonight I’m headed to boot camp or a dance class, I have yet to decide 🙂 total body looks great!
these sound like a great workout, I totally need videos to get me motivated rather than trying to create one myself
Now that it’s snowing and I no longer have a gym, I need more workouts like this!
My Sunday workout was a half marathon. In training, I am terrible about getting in weights and cross training even though I know how important it is. Thanks for the reminder and motivation!
My sunday workout was a circuit in my living room with a Jillian Michael’s yoga dvd. I didn’t feel like leaving the house so it was perfect!
No workout for me, I took a break, a much needed break.
My Sunday “workout” was a 4 mile hike with the dog. It was nice, but didn’t break a sweat. Oh well!
Sunday’s are usually a non-workout day ’cause I sleep late 🙂
The rest of the week is a mix of free weights, sit-ups and DVD workouts from Yoga Booty Ballet or David Snively. His Custom Fit DVD lets you choose 20, 40, or 60 minute workouts ranging from aerobic, step, pilates and power yoga. You customize your own workout. Love it!
I have quite the large selection of workout DVDs. It’s impressive. What’s not so impressive is that I’ve only ever watched maybe 50% of them. Need to work on that!
It’s taking me some time to get through my entire collection.
I want more at-home workout equipment!! I have 8 & 15lb dumbbells, one kb that i never use because it’s too light, and a jump rope. I actually mainly do TurboFire or yoga if I’m going to do a dvd. I used to do Jillian Michaels dvds a lot before I had a gym and dogs!
Jillian always scares me. I don’t like to be ‘yelled’ at while I’m working out!
I’d really like to get a bosu ball at home.
Sundays are my relaxed day… so I usually just do long walks or maybe 20 minutes on the stairs to sweat out a little wine from the night before… 😉
On Sunday I went surfing with my husband and took out my new shortboard. It was a very fun workout and a lot of good paddling. Later that evening we went on a 2 mile walk.
Found your blog while reading Shape today. I have a similar story about gaining weight while running and losing it once I stopped and focused on other exercises. Now my main focus is swimming, surfing, and yoga. Glad to see I’m not the only one who gains weight when they run!
