Saturday Surprise

I’ll just preface with this was not a good surprise…and that’s where I’ll end my editorial!

Saturday afternoon I went for a run–I took a route that I wouldn’t normally take but I was on a schedule and wanted to pack in 4 miles.  Side note–33 minutes later, 4 miles run and done.  And that included the few minutes that I was forced to stop for a road block.

The road block was the Madison Naked Bike Ride.  I noticed that traffic was slowing down so I couldn’t cross the road.  And then I heard a lot of noise.  Here came the naked bikers.  I wish I could show you a picture of my face.  My mouth pretty much dropped to the sidewalk.

These folks were letting it all hang out.  Really–all of it.  I hope they were wearing sunscreen.

The worst part of it all/the thing that really made me say “Ewwwwwww” out loud:  seeing that some folks were riding the Madison Community Bikes!

So here’s a tip–if you find yourself renting a community bike–wipe and sanitize it before you ride it!

What’s one of the “strangest” things you’ve seen while out for a run/walk?

  1. OH MY GOSH. That is the most insane thing I have ever heard. I have heard of races WITHIN nudist communities…you know, blocked off! But not a bike ride. That sounds like the most uncomfortable thing in the entire world.

  2. No Way! That is hilarious! Yesterday I saw a baby and momma deer on the bike trail in downtown Milwaukee – I have no idea how they got there!

  3. Oh…wow!!! That’s something I’m glad I didn’t see, Ewwww!! haha!!
Strangest thing I saw was a transgender parade when I was walking on vacation once…something else I def. don’t feel I needed to see, but I admire anyone being able to walk at a semi-fast paced walk with 4 or 5-inch stilettos, lol!

  4. I’m not surprised your jaw dropped! That is so wrong and especially on community bikes *shudder* – and it must be so uncomfortable!!
I once found it hilarious that I was cycling back from riding my horse, in my scruffy yard clothes and not going that fast, and suddenly, a huge group of racers came cycling up behind me, all in their Lycra and going about 100mph (maybe!) They streaked past like I was standing still but it really made me laugh that for about half a second, I was in the lead 🙂
