Do you have the luxury of a year-round farmers’ market in your town?
Since adopting a plant-strong lifestyle, the farmers’ market has been a key player in my weekly shopping trips. There were a couple of months during the winter that it wasn’t worth going to the market but produce has been in full-swing the last couple of weeks.
The exciting news is that on Saturday, April 21st the Dane County Farmer’s Market moves outdoors!
What does it say about me that I got really excited to find these mini-cucumbers at the indoor market yesterday?
Canopy Gardens is my favorite mini-cucumber and tomato vendor at the market.
This Wisconsin family business grows veggies pesticide-free in their indoor greenhouse and offers greenhouse tours. Field trip! They also make salsa from their fresh tomatoes and always offer samples at the market.
A new item (at least new to me) is their dehydrated grape tomatoes. These are really sweet and will be perfect in salads, on pizza, and tossed with pasts & veggies.
If you make it to the market, look for the red tent and you’ll find the friendly Canopy Gardens folks.
In Spring Cleaning news, I’ve cleaned Apples and Arteries–a new theme, updated pages, etc. Feedback and comments welcome!
And finally, something I heard on A Way With Words this morning that I wanted to share:
“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad”. – Miles Kington
Enjoy the day!
GREAT quote!
Thank you! That quote really stuck with me.
We also have a year round farmers market and I love it!! And I love the new look!
