Happy First Day of Spring. It’s exciting to see flowers and blue skies. I hope I don’t see more snow!
Back in January the nice people at Good Karma Foods let me sample their new, all-natural Flax Milk. I was excited to try something new and break away from almond milk for a while!
The Good Karma Flax Milk line includes three flavors: Original, Unsweetened and Vanilla. Each serving delivers 1200mg of Omega-3, an essential fatty acid that has been shown to help prevent heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes.
Good Karma Flax Milk is made from natural ingredients like cold pressed, unrefined flax seed oil and all three varieties are: lactose & dairy free, gluten and soy free, as rich in calcium as dairy milk, low-calorie, have 0 cholesterol, are kosher, vegan, and non-GMO. Sounds great, right?
I enjoyed all three varieties but my favorite was the unsweetened. I stick to unsweetened, plain non-dairy milk as I mainly use it in my coffee, smoothies, and baked-goods. One thing I loved about using Flax Milk in my AM coffee–it blended very well and didn’t end up separating and sitting on the bottom of my mug as almond milk tends to do.
The vanilla was perfect for baking–I used it in my healthy birthday cake and oat bran breakfast muffins.
My nephew Luke helped serve as a taste-tester and loved the vanilla. He said it tasted like “liquid ice-cream”, was “flavorful and vanilla-y”, and was “better than milk!” Kid tested and approved.
Another really neat thing about Good Karma Foods is that they are based in Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin.
Good Karma Foods is known for its launch of the first ever organic rice based ice cream, Organic Rice Divine™. For more information on the Good Karma Foods brand please visit www.goodkarmafoods.com. Good Karma Foods’ Flax Milks are available at Whole Foods Market and other natural and grocery stores across the U.S.
Questions: Have you tried flax milk? What did you think?
I have never even heard of flax milk but now its something I want to try. We eat lots of flax seed and I would think the milk would be good in smoothies.
I thought it was much creamier than other non-dairy milks!
I’ve never tried it before but I’m intrigued! And I’m even more intrigued by that rice cream…
I’ve never had flax milk! But I love trying new things, so I’d probably give it a taste!
Don’t judge me…but I don’t know that I’ve even HEARD of flax milk! I’m not sure I even knew you could MAKE milk out of flax…although it makes sense, as everyone is making “milk” out of all kinds of nuts and grains lately. 🙂
Would you please tell me what are the carbs and sugars? My granddaughter has juvenile diabetes…and we have to know carbs and sugar counts….I looked to order through amazon and really doesnt tell me any of this information. To order through Amazon you have to buy a 12count at a time…does it have a shelf life as long as its not opened…or does it need refrigeration as soon as you get it home and open it.?
Hello – ingredient and nutrition information is available on the Good Karma website: http://www.goodkarmafoods.com/flax-milk-unsweetened
This flax milk is kept refrigerated – even if not opened.
I love the Vanilla version in my coffee! I am also happy to see it is a local product for Wisconsin residents…less shipping costs and lower Co2. I am really excited that I will finally be getting enough Omega 3. Good bye cows milk…it was nice while it lasted.
