5 Down, 45 to Go: The Night Circus

Read this book!  Last week I polished off #5…45 more to go.  I could not get enough of this novel and raced to finish it before the library due date!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Night Circus  by Erin Morgenstern.  I first heard about the book last summer…iTunes offered a portion of the novel for free.  I made note of the title and saved it to my To Read list.

This is a unique novel…it contains circus characters, a competition between two illusionists, and a variety of fantasy and the unknown.  The characters, settings, and story lines are magical and take the reader on an imaginative journey–one that left me with goosebumps.  And I’m happy to report that there are no creepy clowns in the cast of characters.

I’m not quite sure what sort of genre this novel would fit into…it’s almost in its own.  I wonder if Ms. Morgenstern is leaving the door open for a series.  I hope so!  I also suspect this has a movie production written all over it.

Questions:  Have you read The Night Circus?  What did you think?
What’s your favorite circus act?  Circus food?

  1. Yes – read it and loved it. I really liked the Widget and Poppet characters for some reason. Their circus act with kittens jumping through hoops compared to their parents act with the big cats was pretty funny.
